Women in Need (WIN) is a registered not-for-profit organization founded in March 2003. It was the heart-felt desire of Sheryl Parrish and Carrie Parks, along with a group of their friends, to raise and contribute funds among SW Missouri working women in need of a hand up. WIN is a board of 14 professional women who have either been in need, or have known a family member or close friend in financial crisis, despite working 40 plus hours a week. We all know the woman who "falls between the cracks". The board does not work alone we have a group of fundraising volunteers called WINNERS, formed through a huge networking group. WINNERS are both men and women that meet regularly to brainstorm and plan various fundraising events. WIN's only source of income is through these fundraising events. There always seems to be more worthy recipients than we can raise enough money to meet their needs. Although our community is kind in giving we seem to have more recipients than funds. Women in Need Mission statement We are a not-for-profit organization designed to improve our local community by providing women in need the opportunity to enhance their self-esteem. We pledge to provide the resources necessary to enable women in need to become women of strength, and provide reinforcement as they develop the qualities of compassion, professionalism, and motivation which will lead them to the path of success.
WHO WIN HELPS - Working women not receiving any other form of public assistance, challenged by a financial crisis.
- We offer assistance when there is no other means of support.
- We are not a monthly means of support but are there for a crisis.
- We help during an emergency,..ie; car repairs, illness, washer/dryer and other times of need.
